HTC Inspire - update to 2.3 - now weather does not show

Hi.....

My son updated his HTC Inspire to the new 2.3 but now on his home page the weather symbols do not show under the clock as they always did before. It gives him a message about unable to retrieve data and once he hits refresh then it works. This did not happen before the update so I'm thinking it must be something with that. Any suggestions to fix this?

Tap on the weather under the clock, then menu, then settings... Make sure all of the correct options are set for auto update and the time you want the updates to happen (1hr, 2 hrs and so on). Then tap out using the back arrow from the weather window and see if that dose it. If not, just do a restart and see if that works.

Thank you for responding.....a restart did not resolve the issue. When he taps on setting the only option he has access to is Update when Opening (which is checked).....the other options that allow you to set for auto update are grayed out and will not allow you to select.

Weird, not sure why the options would be grayed out... Try turning on gps so the weather app finds his location (the weather app maybe doesn't have your local in the library, but usually the cell tower takes care of that). See if that shows the other options.

Oops, another check... Go to settings on the main screen, then to "accounts & sync", and make sure sync is set for "weather".

You might also want to try deleting the widget and then adding it back to the homescreen. When you add the widget, you will have the option to set the location for the weather.

Before doing that (factory reset) I would give a soft reset (removes everything from memory, but doesn't remove personal info and apps) a try 1st... Remove the battery while the phone is still powered on, wait 10 secs, then install battery and power the phone back on.
