Been troubleshooting inability to activate Visual Voicemail on a new upgrade iPhone 4s. Went from iPhone 3GS to 4s with no data plan change. 4 hours with AT&T and 1 with Apple. AT&T suddenly says it's a nationwide VIsual voicemail outage. I call bogus. My other iPhone gets visual volcemail just fine.
Anyone else having trouble wtih Visual Voicemail?

Same issue here, just got off the phone with Technical Support. Basically the answer is that they know there is an issue and they have no idea when it will be resolved. So much for that feature, I'll be waiting a couple weeks, then call back asking for a discount on the service until it actually works as advertised.

I bought an unlocked iPhone 5 and could not get the visual voicemail activated today either, after spending two excrutiating hours at the ATT store.
Finally the Rep told me there was an outage affecting Washington State.
If I wanted to go without this service, I'd go with Red Pocket and call it a day.
This is ridiculous.

Also.... just a sidenote to my post above.
The Rep in the store reset my VM account FOUR TIMES with no success.
Have no idea what is going on, but my old 3g had working VVM until the moment I walked in the door at the store to activate my new phone.
I was told I'd get a call checking on the status of my problem on SATURDAY.
REALLY??? ![]()

I have an iPhone 5, and I have been without visual voicemail for over two days. I had no idea it was not working, until people starting complaining because I was not responding to their messages. I called AT&T, and was told that there is a nationwide outage of visual voicemail. I asked if it was a virus or network attack, or a piece of hardware that had crashed. The representative told me that they do not know what the problem is, and did not know when it would be resolved. They suggested that I press and hold the "1" button on the keypad until it dialed my voicemail. Then, open the voicemails manually. I told the representative if I wanted to do that, I would not have bought an iPhone, and that I wanted to used the visual voicemail feature and service that i am paying for. She did not know if they were going to offer some sort of discount or not. Regardless, it is ridiculous that a problem goes more than 48 hours now days.

I agree Tim.
I also phoned support TWICE yesterday and got nowhere.
I also asked if Customers would be compensated for this outage and was told NO in a very rude way by the Tech Support person.
I am currently researching other carriers, on my way to talk to T Mobile today - they have a SIM only plan which is cheaper than what I am paying at ATT. I bought an unlocked phone this time and I am glad I did. ATT has no interest in retaining customers, clearly-- I have been with them thru their various incarnations since 1996. They simply do not care about keeping long time customers at all and their prices are some of the highest in the wireless business.

I'm a psychotherapist using iPhone 4S. I have 24 hours to call back a patient by law & less if urgent. Seven clients called me (usually they text) Tuesday. My phone did not indicate any messages. On Thurs a friend said she'd left a message the previous day so I called voicemail directly . 7 messages I did not know about.
AT&T rep told me there was a NATIONAL visual voicemail outage. No word on when repaired
And still not working FRIDAY. What is going on? Hard to believe.

My gripe is, WHY not TEXT is and let us know we
need to check voicemail manually? I depend on my phone.
See you on Twitter!

I called AT&T again today regarding the continuing visual voicemail outage. I got the same story, that they do not know what the problem is or when it will be fixed. I told the service rep that the outage is now in its 4th day, and for them to not know what the problem is or when it will be resolved makes no sense at all, and I do not believe that they do not know. I told her that I and all other subscribers pay for visual voicemail, and asked what they are going to do to compensate subscribers for lack of service. Her retort was that "no subsciber pays for visual voicemail". I asked her if she realized what she just said. I told her, what she said essentially, is that AT&T provides visual voicemail at no cost to the subscribers. She then said not, that is not what she is saying. She then offered me a $25.00 credit on my account, for "inconvenience". I told her that is nice, but what I really want is for my visual voicemail to work again, instead of being in this perpetual loop of not knowing what the problem is, or how long it will be until it is fixed. I then told her that I have been a customer of AT&T for almost 13 years, and have 8 cellular accounts with them for my family and business. I spend an average of $850.00 per month for my accounts. I told her that these kind of issues are what makes loyal customers like me look at Verizon. I told her that i called Verizon and their visual voicemail is working fine. I then told her if she does not know what the problem is or when it will be resolved, then I want to talk to s supervisor or someone that does. She said that nobody in their group has that information. So, my fellow AT&T iPhone users, it looks to me like AT&T might have decided to save some bandwidth or something by turning off the visual voicemail and see how long they can get away with it. Personally, I am going to contact Apple, and see if they can put some sort of pressure on AT&T. I dont know how far I will get with that effort, but it is a feature on their phones and worht a try. Also, if there are any social media sites that have been set up regarding this issue, I would like to know.

My visual voicemail is now working, after a four day outage. I am glad that it is now working, but I find it hard to believe that it took four days for AT&T to resolve the issue, considering it was not related to a natural disaster like a tornado, hurricane, etc.
