My son is in Europe, I cancelled his voicemail. But is he charged for calls he doesn't answer???!?!?!
The phone is to be used for texting only (he has a 200 international text plan).... and emergency calls.

If Long distance and international per-minute roaming rate charges both apply
All calls you make or receive while roaming internationally are charged at the per minute voice roaming rate, with no additional long distance charges. While roaming internationally, calls deposited to your voicemail (when phone is active and if busy/no answer) will incur twice the per minute charge.

His voicemail has been dectivated.......
I'm aware that if it went to voicemail, he would have been charged for recording the voicemail, and then again for actually listening to it.
So the question is ? Is he charged for UNanswered calls ? No one picks up, not even voicemail.

If all conditional forwards are off and the unaswered call ultimately goes to the foreign carriers error message ("the cellular customer you are calling has left the coverage area or has switched off their phone"), my understanding is that the call is not billed. I don't screw with it and hard forward my US phone to a Google Voice number before I leave. I get the phone message as an attachment to an email and everything is on the data side.
