they erase the messages AUTOMATICALLY!! Sometimes there are very real reasons that the messages need to be saved on their server for evidence purposes in court. When I was with Verizon we were only allowed 20 messages but we could actually resave the messages and keep them there until we no longer had an account, but NOT with ATT..... Personally this is enough to make me want to leave ATT

Sign up for a YouMail account and use that as your VM account instead of the AT&T VM.
YouMail saves ALL your VM's as MP3s that you are automaticaly saved on their server. They only get deleted if you delete them yourself. Since the VMs are MP3s, you can forward them in emails as attachments as you need to.
It sounds as if this would be the best solution for you.

You're welcome. And good luck. I hope this helps you stop your stalker, or allow for easier prosecution.

Is there a way to move existing voicemails there for safekeeping?

Not that I'm aware of.
I can only think of a convoluted way.
Set up the youmail account.
Call your phone from another one.
Have the VM queued up, ready to play and play it after Youmail picks up.
So basically, you are recording a recording. Not sure how good the sound will be...

Personally, I use this device to record from any phone to a digital voice recorder. The recorder plugs in to a USB port to archive and organise recordings.
