ATT Uverse or just faster internet speed

Ok, I get you don't want to make a promise that on this date faster internet speeds will be in your area. But could someone at least tell me if it is in the works. Like I might be able to see a projected date. Nothing in writing, but just a general ideal that hey sometime in two months, you will be runnig faster. Or maybe a hey not going to happen in the next two years. Just something. No I'm not changing service, I have 6 fastest offer in my area right now, but I know there are fiber optics here, so if someone could give me a simple time frame so that I don't wait for something that isn't going to happen or maybe get my hopes up it will be soon.
