I have been an AT&T cell customer for over 10 years. I purchased a MicroCell over a year ago when the signal on both my personal phone and company supplied phone dropped from 2-3 bars to zero. AT&T level 3 support confirmed that there was work scheduled on one of the three towers near me and we discussed the MicroCell option. Support wouldn't give me one, so I purchased it on my own and registered it to my personal cell.
We are looking at possibly going to a GoPhone for my wife and I wondered if I would be able to change the registration of my MicroCell to my work phone? The phone upgrade options I found online for the personal cell are not as attractive to me as what would be available on the pre-paid side.
Thanks in advance for any information you can share.

Thank you Otto. I'll check with the telecom group in my company to see if they will allow me to do that. I am doubtful in a company of over 90,000 employees worldwide.

I do know that there are people who have company-provided cell phones that have been able to get them registered to a MicroCell and then have moved the MicorCell to their homes (sort of like moving your MicroCell to your summer home) but it's kind of a hassle.

My MicroCell has always been set up at home. I work for a large IT provider and receive text pages when I am on-call to alert me to system problems. When I had the poor signal issue about 2 years ago, I requested that my company upgrade my phone to one that was 3G capable and upgraded my personal phone also.
The MicroCell is something I was willing to invest in for both work and personal reasons. I also receive notifications as a volunteer firefighter via cell and voice pager as our redundant means of dispatch.

I know the Go Phone works with the MicroCell as a Guest phone but I'm not sure if it could be used as the primary account holder phone number. If it can, then you could register your work phone as a Guest. It might be worth a call to AT&T to find out. If you can't get an answer, let me know, or pm CustomerCare (see link in my sig) and ask them.
