My neighbor and I both have microcells. They both started flashing green today. Resetting and power reset are not working. In desperation I just tried the recipe for the red flashing light but so far it hasn't worked. But strangely it looks like my phone is connecting to it anyway. It wasn't earlier.
Any ideas what's going on here?

The same thing happened to me today.I noticed the 3G light blinking earlier today. I tried power cycling the device and the 3G light kept flashing. I power cycled again and then I could not get a GPS lock. I have called tech support several times with no change. FInally they unregistered the device and had me re-register it. Now I get a GPS lock, but there is no progress at all with the the new activation. The thing is basically a brick.
I have had a few problems with this device before. Generally power cycling fixes it. It has always been up and running in only a few minutes, even when I initially set it up. Once I had the flashing red light and tech support had me register it again which fixed the problem right away.
I don't know what is going on.

The flashing green 3G light may mean that there was an update in your area (usually done overnight) and the automatic reset didn't work quite right (the MicroCell has lost connection to the AT&T servers). AT&T may be doing tower maintenance in your area or there could be upstream routing issues. Try a hard reset by holding in the reset button on the back of the unit for about 30 seconds.

Right. I just got off the phone with tech support. They told me they were pushing out a number of updates. Unfortunately, the last tech support person should not have had me re-register my device. Now it is "stuck" in limbo trying to activate at the same time they are pushing out updates. So I have to wait and see what happens.
At this point for me I don't think a hard reset will help since my device is not even activated at this point.

I tried the hard reset earlier today. At one point it did stop flashing and stay steady for s few minutes, but then started up again. My phone is connecting and working, and it wasn't for awhile, so I think I'll just leave it as is for the time being and see if perhaps it straightens itself out by morning.

It seems that at this point in time, all both of you can do is wait and see what happens. Hopefully AT&T will get their end of the update resolved and you can re-register your phone and try the hard reset and for the other poster, if you can still connect and make calls, leave it alone.

I just got back home after several hours with no change in activation status. Figuring I had nothing to lose, I performed a hard reset (again) and now I have some action relativley quickly. It is up to step three, location verification. Keeping my fingers crossed.

I just posted this to another poster with the same question.
The blinking green 3G light usually means that an update has been sent to the MicroCell. AT&T usually does this overnight without warning. The MicroCell is supposed to reset itself properly and you never know the difference. The fact that it is blinking green and not red, and you still have phone service, is good. The blinking green 3G should mean that you have lost service to the AT&T servers or your registration has failed. If your service is still good then I'd keep an eye on it but it should resolve itself once AT&T has fixed whatever the issue is on their end. FWIW, a blinking red 3G indicates a hardware failure or the inability for the MicroCell to properly reset itself after an update and it thinks it's broken.

I've been having trouble since Friday. I get flashing green but no connection. I had an unsuccessful debug session with tech support this morning. I get the sense that there is someting going on on the ATT end though.
Anybody from ATT have any info/updates?

Hey there--just curious as to where you are. I'm in Boston and they indicated that there were some problems in the Northeast.

Yeah I'm still out of luck.
You just did a 20 second power cycle...not de-registering and re-registering?

I'm trying to get some information on what's happening but it seems to be localized to the East Coast. At least so far.

Thanks for your help!
What I'm seeing on the analyzer is isakmp-nat-keep-alives being sent every 10 seconds, but no response from the server end (don't know if this is normal or not). I do see "child_sa" handshakes (I'm assuming on port 4500) periodically (every 90 seconds), and earlier today saw some "parent_sa" messages being exchanged end to end as well, but haven't seen any of those recently. AT&T host being used is 12.230.208.134 in my case (Connecticut).
Good luck with your investigation! Please let us know if you discover anything.

Connecticut, Massachusettes, and Maine so far are reporting similar issues. Most seem to be able to stay connected even with the 3G light flashing green so that's good. Unless you lose connectivity altogether, I'd just leave it alone and see what happens. Who knows what will happen if you reset, or try to deactivate/reactivate.

I don't think I have any choice but to wait for the activation to complete at this point (and won't get 3G service until that is successful).
Thanks again!

I gave up last night with it stuck on location verification for several hours. When I woke up this morning I finally had an M-Cell signal on my phone, but the 3G light was flashing again and still is. I am leaving it alone. I had a call back scheduled with tech support which I missed. I think that there is something going on with AT&T and they are leaving the poor tech support folks in the dark.
I would advise against re-registering. It only made things worse for me. After I did that, I basically bricked my unit. It took several hard resets to get some activity and then many hours more before it activated.
And BTW I live in Vermont.

I agree about the de-register/re-register. I've started a new thread for this so if anyone else has this issue from states other than Connecticut, Massachusettes, or Vermont, post there so we can track it. In the meantime call support or PM ATTCustomerCare (see the link in my sig). The more complaints they get and can document them, the faster AT&T is apt to respond because these outages may be localized and not State-wide.
