I want to get a microcell for my current place of employment, my employer does not allow access to social media and gmail. With the microcell plugged into their server, will the data usage of my phone be privy to IT usage checks? Will the usage from the different iPhones accessing the microcell be able to be individually recognized? The microcell is permissible at my employment, just wondering if our personal phone usage would be able to be tracked or logged to my employer's policies.

I don't think there is any way to answer that question because only at&t would know and I don't think they would tell you. Since the signal goes through your company's network I presume they could examine the packets and determine some information, how much I don't know. I would play it save and keep your cellular traffic strictly business.

I would agree. The MicroCell is basically just a dumb device, passing data packets back and forth to AT&Ts servers but the type of data could be sniffed by your companies IT should they have a reason to do so. If work prohibits it, then there's probably a reason, so I'd just comply with company policy. Your job is more important than social media or what ever.

No, your company would not be able to inspect the connection as the microcell creates an IP-sec VPN tunnel to AT&T servers. This connection is encrypted, so it cannot be snooped. However if I was your company's IT, I would probably block your ability to use the microcell. And as a heads up, violating company policy is probably grounds for terminations… so if you think going on Facebook is more important than your job, I'd say give it a shot.

Even with IPSec Pass-through, if your service passes thru a firewall, the firewall can be setup to detect and log traffic. So, in a sense yes, traffic could be detected but not necessarily what. But I agree 100%, why chance your job just to play at work.
