You would think, with all the effort Spd2d has put in to the topic, that they would have tested weather on demand in Houston! I mean, who would be better qualified to evaluate it?

I'm bored. Nothing I want to see on the Olympics right now and I know I will go thru withdrawl after Sunday.

I actually watched the basketball game today against Argentina. I thought for a while there, the USA was going to blow it!!

Yeah, that was hard -- but stuff happens. That Japanese pitcher was amazing! And the ladies soccer win! Then the 100m relay teams blew it, both of 'em! I love the drama of live sports -- you never know what will happen! I'm with Pip -- withdrawal after Sunday, but then football season is really close!

Unfortunately, I was up at the college for kickoff weekend activities while they were drilling it (no trenching here), so I don't have any 'during' pictures

My interest is still strong, Pip, I have just been less active with the computer while my eyes recuperate from the cataract surgery. My final follow up with the doctor is in mid-September at which time he'll refract me for glasses. In the meantime I'm wearing a pair of WalMart special granny glasses for close up stuff. Distant sight is still not as sharp as I had hoped. But glasses will correct that. Biggest reward is the huge improvement in my color perception. Helps with my photography. But....I'm still reading most everyone's posts. So keep up the good work.

As far as UU is concerned. I just don't follow that forum very often. I get much more useful info. right here.

My heart is broken. Not surprised though, Houston never gets anything no matter what you've heard.

Not too big a fan of the track and field races, but I do enjoy the relays, so when that happened, I am sure you heard my groan all the way in TX Ed.

So disappointing, but they did make iot to the finals for the 4 x 400 relay, so let's hope they can hold on to the baton this time!!

Well, glad to see you all ARE still interested. Was very surprised to see no one had started the new thread.

Yeah, they got a good one going now with cursing in ALL CAPS! Not for whimps in that Employee area! Worries me if they can't get along with each other, maybe that's why there are problems with installs (not always being done right).

I washed the car in the dark tonight, LOL, when it was a little cooler. 2 mom raccoons came up looking for food, with babies in tow. 1 had 2 that were fighting each other for bread; other had just one, really small...and he actually was coming to me, then mom spotted it and snorted at me, calling him back...too funny!

I know rehabbers who have them as pets, but they've been hand-raised and can't be released in the wild (for various reasons). And these are people with training and licensed by the state. They can be VERY destructive and their teeth and claws are sharp. Hands look just like people hands and I've seen them get into all kinds of stuff! Like a cat, 100 times worse!

Yep, when they start arguing with each other about how to fix something or do something, you have to wonder and in the end, you all know who loses.

Definitely not for the faint of heart, that particular forum.

As for the raccoons, cute little guys, but can be dangerous if you aren't careful.

Used to have a family of raccoons that I fed when I was single and lived in an apartment and then after I got married, hubby and I would feed a group of them at our local park, along with a beautiful black cat that lived near the raccoons. I was kind of surprised to see that they more or less tolerated each other, but the cat showed no signs of injuries, so I guess they did get along okay.

At least the cat got fed every day so he wasn't going hungry, just wished I could have done more.

I really wanted to take that cat home with us, but if the company found out, hubby would have gotten fired and if we had taken him to the local shelter, they would have just put him down. It was a no win situation all the way around.

Only reason the company finally allowed tenants to have cats was the gov't installed a law saying they HAD to allow that and even then, employees were not allowed pets of any kind at all.

Went to the park for quite a while and the cat was just gone. Never showed up again and we never found out what happened to him.
